Welcome to the 2021 Embodied Learning Summit!
The Embodied Learning Summit is an annual conference hosted by the Duke University Mindfulness and Human Development team which aims to provide a community space for yoga education and celebration. The theme of this year's Summit is "What is Yoga? An Ancient Practice in a Modern World" and will focus on learning about yoga history and the cultural appropriation of yoga, addressing inequity and inclusivity within our own communities, and returning to yoga’s roots as an embodied spiritual practice.
This year, the Summit will be fully virtual in order to provide a safe and comfortable experience for all participants. Instructors from the Durham community and around the world will lead participants through three days of workshops. Our keynote speaker is Susanna Barkataki, who is in her own words a teacher, inclusivity promoter, and yoga culture advocate. Workshops examine different aspects of the richness and complexity of yoga and its applications in our modern world through practice, presentations, music, and journaling.
Registration is by donation. Suggested donation is $5-75. All proceeds will benefit Y.O.G.A. for Youth’s work empowering youth and families in underserved communities through the principles and practice of yoga.
